AI Supported Solution to Illegal Construction from Kestel Municipality

Kestel Municipality launched the Satellite Based AI Supported Detection System, developed in cooperation with BİRSAV, in order to strengthen the fight against illegal construction. The system can detect unlicensed constructions in a short time by analyzing high-resolution satellite images with AI.

The technology identifies changes in construction by comparing current and historical satellite images and integrates the obtained data with geographic information systems, allowing rapid intervention by field teams. Detected changes are digitally archived to create records that can be used in audit and legal processes.

Kestel Mayor Ferhat Erol stated that the system will contribute to the protection of natural areas and agricultural lands and that they use technology in line with the goal of planned urbanization and creating a more livable district. With the new application, the municipality aims to prevent illegal construction and strengthen sustainable city management.
